(Pinus maritima)

Description

Extracts from pine bark, particularly from the maritime pine, contain proanthocyanidins (also referred to as procyanidins) – one of the most beneficial groups of plant flavonoids. As powerful antioxidants, the most active proanthocyanidins are bound to other proanthocyanidins. Collectively, mixtures of proanthocyanidin dimers, trimers, tetramers, and larger molecules are referred to as procyanidolic oligomers (PCOs). Although PCOs exist in many plants, commercially available sources include grape seed and pine bark extracts.
