Description

Both green tea and black tea are derived from the same plant, the tea plant (Camellia sinensis). Green tea is produced by lightly steaming the fresh-cut leaf, preventing oxidation and preserving its polyphenol content with potent antioxidant and anticancer properties.

Health Benefits

Green tea polyphenols offer strong antioxidant protection, outperforming vitamins C and E in some studies. They help protect against oxidative damage to LDL cholesterol and are associated with lower cancer rates.

Available Forms

  • Green tea extracts: Commonly available in capsules, tablets, and beverages.

Dosage

  • Green tea extract: Standardized to 80% polyphenols, 300–400 mg daily.
