Description

Colloidal silver is a suspension of silver in water. Historically used as an antiseptic, silver is still used in newborn eye drops to prevent infections. However, colloidal silver supplements are of dubious efficacy and can be potentially dangerous.

Health Benefits

Topical silver is an effective antimicrobial. Systemic use is discouraged because of potential toxicity, including irreversible accumulation in tissues.

Available Forms

  • Colloidal silver: Available in liquid form, typically in 10 PPM concentrations.

Dosage

  • Colloidal silver: 1 teaspoon per day (5 mL), providing 50 mcg of silver.
